Tierra Verde

Known as a boating community with marinas and boat access points. It’s described as a tranquil, family-oriented residential island community. While primarily residential, it has wonderful restaurants and small shops to support residents.

Tierra Verde was once 15 islands covered with mangroves, pines and bush. These islands ranged in size from only a few acres to the largest, Cabbage Key, having over 289 acres. For centuries, Native Americans used the islands for ceremonial grounds.

Things to Do:

The big draw here is Fort De Soto Park, which is home to award-winning beaches, one of the area’s best dog beaches, a historic fort, waterfront campgrounds and miles of pedestrian and kayak trails. It’s also where you can catch a ferry to undeveloped Egmont Key for a day of snorkeling, tortoise-spotting, bird-watching and exploring the ruins of old military buildings.
